Winona Minnesota Event

Saturday October 4th From 2-4 p.m.

Our next Dog-Powered Sports Club event will be held on the Prairie Island Nature Trail in Winona — a beautiful 1-mile loop where participants can, jog, walk, or run at their own pace. this time, we’ll be focusing again on canicross: running with your dog using a proper harness and bungee line.

Like our first event, we’ll start with an educational portion covering the sport, training basics, and gear. Everyone will get the chance to try on different equipment, get sized properly, and learn what works best for their dog. After that, we’ll take turns running the loop one at a time We’ll have volunteers with walkie-talkies at the start and finish, so no one has to feel pressured about speed or about being “on display.”

Worried your dog might bark, pull, or not get along with other dogs? That’s okay. We welcome all kinds of dogs — even the “spicy” ones — and our club is run by professional trainers who are comfortable working around reactivity. Dogs won’t be meeting nose-to-nose, and teams will be kept well-spaced. If your dog needs a muzzle for safety, that’s no problem either. This is a structured sporting event, not a dog park, and our goal is to make sure every dog and person can participate without judgement.

After the runs, we’ll gather back at the trailhead to relax, have some snacks, and share the experience together. We’re also hoping to have vendors (and maybe even a food truck) on-site. Proceeds from food sales sold by the club go directly toward supporting future events for the club.

Whether you’re new to dog-powered sports or already curious about trying canicross, this event is designed to be fun, welcoming, and accessible. RSVP today and come see what it’s all about!
